Healing Trauma from Higher Layers of Consciousness

Updated: Oct 19

I’ve always cherished my 3AM conversations with John*. This one gave me some realizations about how to heal our trauma in the most efficient way. Hope it helps!

We all perceive life through layers of consciousness or awareness.

Most people stay in the ego mind layer for most if not all of their lives — the separation, the story, the identity. If you don’t know you have access to more, that layer becomes your home. Your lens. Your default.

But the truth is, we all live in all the layers of consciousness — all of the time. Whether we realize it or not. We always have access to more.

That’s what we were talking about : Healing trauma, and how the layer of consciousness you’re perceiving from changes everything.

When you’re healing from the ego perspective, it’s heavy and slow. You’re not just holding the trauma — you’re holding guilt, shame, separation, the belief that something is wrong with you, or that it never should have happened. You are trying to heal while still living in the story. It’s exhausting.

And honestly? That kind of healing can take years. Lifetimes, even.

But when you shift — when you see it from a higher layer, like Soul, Unity, or God consciousness — everything becomes easier.

You remember:

  • We’ve lived a thousand lives. This is just one of many experiences we've had. This allows us to back up and see the trauma through the lens of the observer instead of keeping ourselves in the story.

  • We're all a projection of the Universe. We're all made of the same stuff. We are both the villain and the victim - Yet, we are also neither of those. We're one in the same, experiencing all sides of the coin.

  • Emotions are stories the mind tells us. An interpretation of energy through the ego mind.

  • There is no past and no future. Only the eternal now exists.

Here are some practical tips to help you shift higher:

  • As much as you can, stay in the present moment. A simple way to start is to notice how your body moves when you walk, the muscles contracting. Notice how food feels and tastes in your mouth with every bite. Keep it simple.

  • When memories of trauma surface, observe without letting your mind take you into the story. Watch the thoughts, don't repress. Don't judge. Just let the thoughts come up and be gentle with yourself as you work to forgive them and yourself. Then let the thought go. Don't let your ego mind take you on a loop. Don't keep telling the story. Let it go fully.

  • Take care of your vegus nerve. Chant, massage, and gentle head rolling will all allow this nerve to come into balance.

  • Know that you are deeply loved. That you are love manifested.

Healing doesn’t always come in a breakthrough. Sometimes it’s just a quiet moment of seeing things differently and allowing yourself to release it.
