Q&A : What is Energy Healing?

I'm going to answer this from my perspective. My opinion may or may not apply to other healers.
In my practice, I use my life force and source energy to move the energy within your system (chakras). This movement of energy allows your system to recalibrate and heal. The only goal of an energy healer is to make sure your energy can freely move where it needs to. Energy healers don't need to manipulate the amount of energy in each chakra or "balance the chakras"; the system does that independently. Think of a winding river. The health of the river is dependent on the movement or flow of water. When it gets blocked, stagnation occurs, and the water gets murky and debris-filled. We want the current of your energy system to flow smoothly so that every part of you is nourished.
Sometimes, words get in the way, so I will go deeper and clarify a few things.
Energy:
Life force energy can also be referred to as Prana, Chi, my soul, Love, Shakti, the Divine, God, etc. It is an offshoot of source energy individualized around each person's system and body.
Source energy is the same as life force energy but is the whole. It is not individualized. So when I pull from the source, I'm going outside my system and pulling love in from the larger pool of God.
These two energies are the same but reside in different "places." They are conscious and intelligent.
Heal:
Throughout your incarnations, you collect karma, which is stored in your energy system and body. We need to release and remove karma to heal, which means moving energy throughout our chakras to remove blocks. We must acknowledge this karma, forgive those involved, including ourselves, and learn from the experience to release it. We get caught up in a complex perspective of releasing karma when it's a speedy process, only taking acknowledgment, love, and intention to do the trick!
Karma:
Think of karma like all of the lessons you incarnate to learn. If you don't learn and integrate the lessons, you will continue to hold onto them. You will also experience physical manifestations of karma (disease). Have you heard of the "life review" that many NDE survivors experience? They say, "My whole life flashed before my eyes!" What is happening is that all of their karma flashed before their eyes and, in the process, was cleared. When someone dies, not all of the karma is fully processed. Some karma is so heavy that it follows them into other lifetimes. When working with energy and healing, we focus on clearing karma. Many don't speak of the process this way or fully understand what they do when they heal.
When cleared or released, karma often feels like a purge of memories, beliefs, and perspectives. These memories usually appear to come out of nowhere. Integration of energy healing is imperative in part because of the nature of letting go of karma. Many emotions and feelings come up when we start to process our memories, especially if those memories contain traumatic events.
